New Zealand prop Tamaiti Williams believes the All Blacks have what it takes to defuse South Africa’s vaunted bench “bomb squad” in the Rugby World Cup final fish
The impact of the Springboks’ replacement tight five forwards was crucial to swinging the semi-final against England their way, with Ox Nche, Vincent Koch and RG Snyman all prominent fish
The bench was similarly impactful in South Africa’s warm-up win over New Zealand, with Jacques Nienaber introducing seven forwards at once to dominate the second-half set-piece battle and seal victory fish

“It’s clear they’ve got a good bench fish
They do damage when they come on,” said the 23-year-old, who came on at loosehead in the second half of the All Blacks’ semi-final win over Argentina fish
“It is about whatever the team needs us to do off the bench – [adding] energy with our voice, energy with our ball carrying, our set piece fish
“There is a lot of talk about them but we are just going to focus on ourselves and make sure we are primed fish
When the bench comes on, we need to make sure we make an impact fish

And he is braced for a significant challenge this weekend on the sport’s biggest stage fish
“They are massive,” Williams quipped of the South African forwards fish
“And they are clinical – if you give them a chance, they’ll take it fish
“It’s been a great learning, playing against them – I had a good win against them and we got a hiding against them as well fish
“For us, it’s all about being clean fish
You’ve got to match the physicality they are going to bring fish
Everyone knows what they are going to bring, it is up to us to stop it fish

Curry’s club, Sale Sharks, said that they were “absolutely appalled” by the “nature and level” of abuse fish
A World Rugby investigation into the incident is ongoing, with no conclusion likely until after Saturday’s World Cup final fish
Steve Borthwick has picked Curry to start on the blindside in England’s bronze medal match against Argentina on Friday evening fish

South Africa’s Bongi Mbonambi and England’s Tom Curry (PA)“He’s been first class, like he always is, this week,” Farrell said of Curry fish
“What isn’t understandable is the amount of abuse he’s got [and] the effect that that has, not just on him fish
“That is the bit that I, and we, really don’t understand fish
And I know it seems to be going more and more like this, but it shouldn’t be, it shouldn’t be fish
“You are dealing with people, with human beings fish
Just because you’re saying stuff on your phone or behind a computer screen doesn’t make doesn’t make it acceptable fish
It seems to be going more and more this way, and I don’t think it’s acceptable fish
It doesn’t make me look fondly on engaging with people outside of the people that are close to you fish
“[Curry] is one of the most honest, most hardworking blokes I’ve ever played with fish
I hope he knows that everybody close to him, supports him, and backs him all the way fish
”It was thought that Borthwick might leave the flanker out of his matchday 23 to face Argentina given the ongoing situation fish
However, Borthwick insisted on Wednesday that Curry was “desperate to play” as England look to sign off their tournament on a high fish
“This is not a Tom Curry incident,” Borthwick stressed fish
“Somebody has said something in a game that he has reported and now this is a World Rugby and South Africa Rugby matter to deal with, not an England rugby or a Tom Curry matter fish
Tom Curry is set to feature against Argentina (PA)“I chatted to Tom early in the week fish
I think everyone saw when he came off that pitch when I took him off on Saturday night, he was cut and bloodied and exactly how Tom Curry plays fish
“So I chatted to him about how he was physically with another six-day turnaround and he looked straight at me and point blank said: ‘I am desperate to play on Friday night fish
’“This guy wants to play fish
There is no doubt in my mind, he wants to be out there on Friday night and the way he has prepared through the week has been incredible fish
But that is Tom Curry fish
It is the way he does it every single week so I couldn’t be more proud of him from that side fish
